Priests are known to be very capable healers in WoW. It must be said however, that priests can also dish out a
lot of damage. When you decide to play with the priest class you can choose between several races.
If you want to play a priest on the Horde side you will be able to choose between the following races: Undead,
Trolls and Blood Elves. On the Alliance side you can pick either a Dwarf, Human, Draenei or Night Elf priest.
All races have their own racial abilities so besides the looks you should also look into these when you want to
make your priest. Priests are spell casters and whether they are healers damage dealers that need mana in order to
cast these spells they will need a good amount of spirit which will make their mana recover a lot faster, intellect
which provides the priest with more mana and spell power which makes their spells more efficient.
As each other class the priest has three talent trees available to him and these are Discipline, Holy and
Shadow. The Holy talent tree is used for players that want to heal in PvE scenarios.
Spells like Guardian Spirit and Circle of Healing will become available to the priest through this talent tree
and together with the spells every priest has and the other great talents that can be found in this talent tree, a
Holy priest is one of the better healers in the game.

The Shadow talent tree gives the priests the ability to do a lot of damage. Shadow Priests have several damage
over time spells like Devouring Plague and Shadow Word Pain which are very effective. Because they also have spells
that restore mana and health for party and raid member they are a good asset to every raid.
If you plan to play a lot of PvP with your priest you should definitely consider the Discipline talent tree.
Because the discipline tree makes the priest a tough cookie with damage absorbing talents and nice new spells, it’s
a nice choice.
Priests have some of the strongest buffs in the game namely their Stamina, Spirit and Shadow Protection buff.
Besides these buffs they can resurrect others, dispel diseases and magic effects, shackle undead NPCs, fear
others, burn other’s mana and more. In case you get a bit high on the threat meter you can always fade which
heavily reduces your threat for an amount of time.
Priests can only wear cloth armor. A priest normally doesn’t have a lot of hitpoints unless he gets a lot of
high tier PvP gear but they do however have a nice mana pool. If you decide to become a Shadow priest you will have
to have particular stats on your gear.
You should aim for a lot of spirit, intellect, spell power, and hit and crit rating. The same thing
actually goes for healing priests but they do not need hit rating and could get some haste rating instead.
The most annoying part of a priest is leveling it even though the Shadow talent tree makes it a bit easier. As
you hit level 40 and get Shadow Form it will be a lot easier though and once you hit the level cap you can count on
many dungeon and raid spots as either a healer or damage dealer.
