WoW Herbalism Guide

WoW Herbalism GuideHerbalism – The Power of Nature

Herbalism belongs to the gathering professions in WoW. If you are levelling a character from 1 to 80 you will surely have no problem with levelling this wonderful profession. Even if you are at level 80 and you want to level up Herbalism, you will have no problem since this profession can be levelled within just a few hours.

What is Herbalism all about?

Herbalism is about gathering various herbs in different areas on the map. So what exactly you can do with herbs? With just herbs you can’t do much but sell stacks on the Auction House. However, combining Herbalism with Alchemy or Inscription will give a really good use of this profession.

With Alchemy you can make various potions, elixirs and flasks with the use of herbs. These are used to enhance your character’s performance in game, especially in instances and raids.

With WOTLK a new profession was born – Inscriptions. This profession is used to make various glyphs that can, depending on your spec, enhance your performance. Herbalism accompanies this profession perfect since you will need a lot of herbs to create various inks that you need to use in Inscription.

How do I find herbs?

It is simple. Herbs are to be found everywhere on the map. However, some areas are richer in herbs compared to other areas. With the ability to Find Herbs you will be able to track herbs on your minimap.

If you would like to have a record of the herbs you have already picked up then try using an addon such as The Gatherer. This addon will save the positions on the map where you picked up an herb and it also can store the information from a party member or a guild member.

Benefits

With Herbalism you will get an ability called Lifeblood. This ability is instant, costs no mana and it can heal you about 3600 over 5 seconds. Lifeblood has a 3 minute cooldown. If you are levelling a char, this ability can prove to be very useful especially for non-healing classes.

Another benefit is that you will be saving a considerable amount of gold when it comes to flasks, pots and elixirs. Since these are a necessity you can choose to make your own or sell the stacks of herbs on the AH for a nice amount of gold. Farming herbs is fairly easy even though having a fast flying mount can speed up things considerably.

Herbalism and Classes

Are there any particular classes who are considered to be suitable for herbalism? The answer to this question is, no. Any class can become an Herbalist even though some classes tend to need it more than others. For example, most of the Herbalists are usually healers or tanks since those two specs always need a lot of potions and flasks. Being a Druid can come in handy when gathering herbs since Druids have a flight form which is instant. This will make herb farming a lot easier.

Other useful assets for Herbalism

When you start to gather herbs you will think that your normal bags are good enough. Just wait and see! Soon you will have no room at all. To solve this problem there are special bags for Herbalists that Tailors can make. These bags have more bag slots then the common bags.
