Archaeology and Reforging - Professions in the Cataclysm
Expansion
Since Blizzard announced the upcoming expansion, there has been much talk about the new things,
races, abilities, items and of course, two new professions.
With the Burning Crusade WoW players got Jewelcrafting as a new profession and with the Wrath of
the Lich King they got Inscription. With the upcoming Cataclysm expansion a new profession was announced –
Archaeology with Reforging as a latest dimension to crafting.
Archaeology
Archaeology as the latest secondary profession will allow players to customize their chars in a
thrilling new way. Future Archaeologists will be able to visit the ruins all around the map and do a research as
any real life Archaeologists.
During their search they will be able to make notes and collect special artifacts. With the use of
these artifacts, Archaeologists will be able to customize their characters and with handing in these artifacts
to a Titan cult they will be able to get amazing rewards such as Vanity pets, Titles, Teleportation and
Items.
An Archaeologist will able to create new discoveries, and depended on the chosen path he will be
able to get passive skills and new abilities.
What makes this profession different?
Coming Soon from Blizzcon
All already known professions in WoW are designed to be taken, skilled to a certain skill level and
used in a certain purpose. With Archaeology this will change. You won’t be only able to train it, hit the cap
and then stop progressing with it. This profession is designed to be continuous and therefore it could be more
progressive and interesting to the players.
Reforging
Reforging is a skill which will allow players to customize their gear. Unfortunately, it is said
that this will apply only to the stats on the gear but not to its appearance. Maybe this will be something for
the future.
Reforging, as a skill will be given to Blacksmiths, Engineers, Jewelcrafters, Leatherworkers and
Tailors. Players with these professions will be able to take any part of gear connected to their profession and
reduce one of the stats. In example, a Leatherworker can take a piece of leather armor. After taking out the
stat, a player will be able to take those stat points, change it and add it back to the armor as a different
stat.
What is so special about this?
The special thing about this skill is that the new stats won’t be something you already have on an
item. In example, if you have a pair of gloves with Stamina, Intelect and Spirit, you will be able to add some
extra haste rating instead of Stamina.
This form of item stats manipulation will be possible on all items, not just the ones you can
craft. Another good point is for the players who aren’t skilled in the given professions. Those players will be
able to seek assistance from other players who have Reforging as an addition to their professions.
With the World of Warcraft Cataclysm expansion we are surely to expect a new dimension in this
game. Being the most popular and outstanding mmorpg, WoW will surely not disappoint the players. There are many
mmorpgs out there but still World of Warcraft’s population of players grows more as the days pass. The reason
for this is the quality of the game and new amazing new releases
